An educational guardian in the UK would be appointed by the parent of the child to take day to day responsibility for them whilst they are in the UK but not at school, i.e during weekends, exeats and half-term holidays or in some cases if the child is released from school.
. Arrange for transportation for your child on arrival in the UK and assist with any airport transfers required. . To assist with travel requirements, these should be made in advance where possible. . To assist with applications for extension of student visa’s & passports.
. Free school placement assistance. . To represent the child’s best academic/personal interests. . Regular liaison with the school/institution. . Translation of school reports.
. To ensure the child registers with a local police station on arrival. . School holiday arrangements – place your child within a suitable host family. . To be responsible for reasonable medical needs and emergencies and provide a 24 hour emergency contact. . Assist in registering the child with a local doctor/practitioner & dentist (If required). . To arrange Public Liability Insurance cover for the child.
. To oversee the child’s finances by ensuring that adequate provisions are made for weekly expenses/where necessary ensure school bills are paid on time. . To assist with the purchase of Mobile Telephones (dependent on age/circumstances) and to assist with the set up a local bank account.
. If your child is removed from school for any reason to arrange a suitable host family and to find another school (if necessary), assist with travel arrangements.
